A: No, you do not have to pay to book. However, we do require a valid debit or credit card on file to hold the appointment time.

Q: Do you take walk-ins?

Q: Where can I find pricing?
A: Pricing is located on the services page of the website at www.theworkmassage.com/services.

Q: Are there any modalities you do not offer?
A: Since we are a clinical establishment with a focus on mobility and pain management there are a few modalities that we do not offer. These include Reiki, Ashiatsu, Lomi Lomi, Reflexology, Craniosacral therapy, Ayurvedic massage, and Thai massage.

Q: Do you offer lymphatic drainage?
A: Currently we do not offer lymphatic drainage.

Q: Why am I having difficulty booking a specific type or length of massage with my favorite massage therapist?
A: We want our massage therapists to do their very best. They will only offer the services they are skilled at providing. They will only offer the length of service their endurance will allow based on their workload for maximum results. New services and longer sessions may be added to their menu as they excel in their ability, knowledge, and continued education.

Q: Do you accept clients who are minors?
A: We do accept clients under 18. Clients who are 16-17 years old are allowed to come to appointments alone with parental consent. Clients who are 14-15 years old must have a parent on the premises for the duration of the session. If the client is 13 years old or younger they must have a parent in the room during the session. If the parent or minor are uncomfortable with any aspect of the session we can and will make any accommodations necessary. This can include leaving the overhead light on, opening the door, or moving a chair into the room for the parent or guardian to be present.

Things to know for your first appointment

Q: What is the address?
A: We are located at 7097 Old Harding Pike Suite F Nashville, TN 37221 inside of Kestner Health and Wellness.

Q: Why is the door locked?
A: We keep our doors locked for security when the chiropractic office is closed. Your massage therapist will meet you at the front door at your scheduled appointment time.

Q: Will I need to fill out paperwork when I arrive?
A: When your appointment is booked a liability waiver and massage intake form are sent to your phone number and email on file with a link to digitally fill out the forms. If you have done this prior to your appointment there will not be any other forms to fill out. If not, the forms will need to be completed before the session can begin.

Q: What happens if I am running late?
A: We offer a 5 minute grace period for clients who are running late. This 5 minutes will be added to the end of the massage. If you arrive past this window, your appointment will be shortened accordingly so we can remain on time for the next guest.

Q: What if my massage therapist is running late?
A: Our goal is to always be on time. In the event your massage therapist is running late you will have 3 options.

  • Option 1- Your therapist will add time to the end of the session to ensure you receive your full time.
  • Option 2- If it is not possible to add the time to the end of the session you will be offered a discount to compensate you for the time lost.
  • Option 3- You can reschedule the appointment for another day at a discounted rate.

Canceling & Rescheduling Appointments

Q: Is there a fee to reschedule an appointment?
A: If you reschedule the appointment at least 24 hours in advance there is no fee. Rescheduling on the same day as the appointment may incur a 50% cancellation fee.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
A: Cancellations at least 24 hours prior to the appointment will NOT incur a fee. Same day cancellations will incur a fee of 50% the cost of service. No call/No show cancellations will incur a fee of 100% the cost of service.

Q: Why am I being charged a cancellation fee?
A: We do our best to respect the time of our clients and massage therapists. Missed appointments mean wasted time and less money for our employees as well as missed opportunities for relief for our clients.

What to expect during the massage

Q: How much do I undress?
A: Clients are welcome to undress to their comfort level. You will be properly covered at all times. If the client is a minor they will only be allowed to dress down to attire that would be appropriate for a public swimming pool.

Q: Will the massage hurt?
A: How the massage feels will vary depending on the type of massage you have selected. As a rule the massage should never be painful. At most you should feel relieving discomfort, not pain. Always speak up if the pressure or location is causing you pain or is not resolving. Your therapist will be in close communication with you to ensure you have a productive and enjoyable experience.

Q: What will the massage look like from start to finish?
A: Your massage therapist will meet you at the door or in the lobby at your scheduled appointment time. Once you are in the treatment room your therapist will gather some information from you to plan and customize your session. After this they will leave the room to allow you a few minutes to undress and get situated on the table. They will knock to confirm you are on the table, covered up, and ready to begin. Your therapist will be in communication with you during the massage to ensure the issues are resolving and the time is being used efficiently.

Q: What should I expect during post massage recovery?
A: You may feel a bit woozy or nauseous immediately after the massage. You will likely be sore for at least the next 24 hours. Soreness may last longer (up to 72 hours) depending on the type of session and if you have preexisting conditions. Areas with preexisting conditions can become aggravated in the initial phases of recovery post massage due to increased sensitivity. This is why it is very important for clients to communicate with their therapist about their medical history and to stay below the pain threshold. This is especially important when working around known issues.
